THE WEST FINGER PIER COMPLETED

The year 2009 ended with the official completion and handing-over of the West Finger Pier Project from Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) to MMHE on 30 December 2009. The West finger Pier (WFP) is another optimization project under the MMHE Yard Development Master Plan.
The work on the WFP began in August 2008 and completed in December 2009 with 300,000 manhours with zero LTI. The WFP project comprises of jetty/pier (300m length x 25m wide) and material handling quay (MHQ) (100m length x 25m wide). The jetty is specifically designed to take berthing of VLCC for repair and conversion works of FPSO and the MHQ could accommodate material delivery barges up to 5,000 dwt. The facilities available at the WFP includes two modern ships embarkation ladder, large water tank and air compressor system to serve the need of the clients.
